Onboarding has two steps. Once you're through them, your Etsy shop is connected and you can start setting Shuttle up.
Step 1: Connect your Etsy shop
When you first open Shuttle, you'll see a welcome screen with a quick summary of what Shuttle does and one checkbox to set before connecting.
Before you connect
A couple of things to have in order:
The right Etsy account. Shuttle connects the shop that belongs to the Etsy account you sign in with. If you use more than one Etsy account, sign in with the one that owns the shop you want to connect.
At least one active listing. Shuttle can only find an Etsy shop that has an active listing. If yours has none yet, publish a listing on Etsy first, then connect. If you try without one, Shuttle shows a warning that it couldn't find an Etsy shop on that account. Add a listing on Etsy and try again.
If your Etsy listings already share SKUs with your Shopify products, tick My Shopify and Etsy products share SKUs. Shuttle will use those SKUs to match products between your shops automatically. If they don't share SKUs, leave it unticked and match your products after connecting. You can change this later in Settings > Products > General, under Match products and variations by SKU. When you're ready, click Connect to Etsy. You'll sign in on Etsy to approve the connection, then come right back to Shuttle. If the connection doesn't complete, Shuttle tells you so. Click Connect to Etsy again.
Step 2: Pick your inventory location
With Etsy connected, Shuttle needs to know which Shopify location to use for your Etsy stock.
If you have only one active Shopify location, Shuttle picks it for you and skips this step. If you have several, choose the one that holds the inventory you sell on Etsy and click Finish setup. Shuttle reads and writes Shopify stock at this location when it syncs with Etsy, and uses it for quantities when you transfer products from Etsy to Shopify.
If Shuttle can't find any active Shopify locations, it asks you to activate one. Activate a location in your Shopify admin, then come back to finish.
You can change the location anytime in Settings > Products > General, under Shopify inventory location.
What happens next
Once both steps are done, Shuttle takes you to your dashboard. If you ticked the SKU box, Shuttle starts matching your products in the background straight away.
Shuttle doesn't start syncing anything on its own yet. Pick the feature that matters most to your shop and set it up:
Transferring products between Etsy and Shopify, so listings exist on both. See Transfer products between Etsy and Shopify.
