Stock Rules keep an eye on your stock for you. When a product or variation drops to the level you choose, Shuttle emails you, and it can also top the stock back up for you.
To use Stock Rules, you need the Growth plan or higher. Stock Rules are also open during the free trial.
What can Stock Rules do?
Stock Rules can alert you, restock for you and watch only the products you choose. A stock rule can:
Email you when stock drops to or below a number you choose. Set it to 0 to hear when an item sells out.
Raise stock back to a set quantity when the rule fires.
Watch every product, or only products with certain SKUs, tags, vendors or product types.
Watch Etsy, Shopify or both, and choose which Shopify locations count.
Send each alert right away, or collect alerts into one daily email.
When does a stock rule fire?
Shuttle checks your Stock Rules each time a new order comes in on Shopify or Etsy. A stock change that does not come from an order, such as a manual edit, does not fire a rule.
Find your Global Rules and Quick Rules
Your Stock Rules live on the Stock Rules page. To open it, go to Inventory in Shuttle and click Manage rules in the Stock automation section.
The Stock Rules page has two tabs:
Global Rules watch many products at once. You can choose all products, or products by SKU, tag, vendor or product type.
Quick Rules watch a single product. Click Add Quick Rule, search for the product on Shopify or Etsy, then set the quantity threshold and when to alert.
You can add as many Stock Rules as you need.
Set up a global rule
A global rule watches a group of products, or all of them, with one set of conditions.
On the Stock Rules page, click Add Global Rule.
Under Basics, give the rule a Name. The name appears in your alert emails.
Under Trigger, set the Threshold. The rule fires when stock drops to or below this number. You can choose 0 to 50.
If you want Shuttle to restock automatically, enter a Target quantity (1 to 999). Leave it empty if you only want alerts.
Turn on Auto-disable after first trigger if the rule should switch off after it fires once. You can switch it back on from the rules list.
Under Timing, choose real-time or fixed-time alerts.
Under Where to monitor, choose Etsy, Shopify or both.
If you monitor Shopify, pick the Shopify locations to watch. If you select all of them, you can also choose whether the threshold counts each location on its own or the total across all locations.
Under Products, choose all products or specific ones. For specific products, type each SKU, tag, vendor or product type and press Enter. SKUs can use wildcards, such as SHIRT-*.
Click Save.
Restock automatically with a target quantity
When a stock rule has a Target quantity, Shuttle raises the item's stock back to that number in the shop where the order came in. For example, a rule can say: when stock drops to 3 or below, raise it back to 10 and send me an alert.
Automatic restocking only ever raises stock. If an item already has as much stock as the target quantity, or more, Shuttle leaves it alone.
Choose when stock alerts arrive
Each stock rule's Timing decides when its alerts reach you:
Real-time: Shuttle emails you as soon as an order makes the rule fire.
Fixed-time: Shuttle sends the alert once a day, at the time you choose.
You set the time for fixed-time alerts under Fixed time delivery in Settings > Alerts & Notifications.
Change where and how stock alerts are sent
Stock alert settings control who gets your alerts and how often. Go to Settings > Alerts & Notifications, or click Alert Settings on the Stock Rules page.
In the Stock Alerts section you can:
Set the Alerts recipient email. Separate several addresses with a comma. Leave it empty to use your Shopify email.
Under Fixed time delivery, pick a Time zone and a Preferred time.
Tick Only send the alert when stock crosses the threshold. For example, with a threshold of 10, Shuttle only alerts when stock goes from 11 to 10, not on later drops.
Tick Send me a daily summary of stock alerts to get one email with the day's alerts and a CSV file.
When Send me a daily summary of stock alerts is on, alerts from fixed-time rules arrive in the daily summary. Shuttle skips the daily summary on days with no alerts.
See every stock alert that has fired
The Alerts History on the Stock Rules page lists every alert that has fired and what Shuttle adjusted. Click Alerts History to open it.
