This article explains how usage limits work for the Stock Syncer feature and what happens when you approach or reach your plan's limit.
How Syncer Limits Work
Your stock syncing plan includes a monthly limit based on the number of orders that trigger stock synchronization, not the number of individual sync operations. This means you're charged based on your actual order volume, making it easier to predict your usage.
What Counts as a Valid Order?
An order counts toward your monthly limit when all the following are true:
The order is paid (not pending or cancelled)
The order contains at least one matched product (a product that exists in both Shopify and Etsy)
The order contains at least one line item that share an SKU with other products (if duplicate SKUs support is enabled).
The matched product is not excluded from syncing
If you've enabled "exclude digital products," at least one item must require shipping
Orders that don't meet these criteria won't count against your limit.
Plan Limits
Plan | Monthly Order Limit |
Growth | 200 orders |
Scale | 1,000 orders |
Unlimited | No limit |
Grace Period
We understand that order volume can be unpredictable. That's why every plan includes a 20% grace period beyond your soft limit.
Plan | Soft Limit | Hard Limit (with grace) |
Growth | 200 orders | 240 orders |
Scale | 1,000 orders | 1,200 orders |
What Happens at Each Stage?
0-99% of limit (Normal)
Everything works normally
Stock syncs automatically
100% of limit (At Limit)
You'll receive an email notification
Stock syncing continues during the grace period
Consider upgrading if you consistently hit this threshold
100-120% of limit (Grace Period)
Stock syncing continues
You'll receive reminder notifications
This buffer protects you from unexpected spikes
Over 120% of limit (Hard Block)
Stock syncing is paused until your billing cycle resets
You'll receive a notification explaining when syncing will resume
Your orders are still tracked, just not synced
When Do Limits Reset?
Your order count resets at the start of each 30-day billing cycle, aligned with your Shopify subscription billing date. You can see when your cycle resets on the Syncer page in your dashboard.
Checking Your Usage
You can monitor your current usage at any time:
Go to the Syncer page in your Shuttle dashboard
Look for the Order Limit section at the top
You'll see:
Orders used this cycle
Your plan limit
Percentage used
When your cycle resets
What Gets Blocked vs. What Continues
Only stock synchronization is paused when you hit the hard limit. All other Shuttle features continue to operate normally without any interruption.
Feature | When Hard Blocked |
Stock syncing (inventory updates) | Paused |
Auto-order transfers (Etsy to Shopify) | Normal |
Auto-fulfillment (closing Etsy orders) | Normal |
Order tracking and management | Normal |
Product matching and transfers | Normal |
Reviews and feedback features | Normal |
Stock alerts | Normal |
Dashboard and reporting | Normal |
Your day-to-day operations continue uninterrupted. The only change is that inventory levels won't sync between platforms until your billing cycle resets, or you upgrade your plan.
Email Notifications
We'll send you email notifications at key thresholds:
80% of limit - Heads up that you're approaching your limit
100% of limit - You've reached your limit, grace period active
120% of limit - Syncing is paused until cycle resets
Frequently Asked Questions
Why am I being charged by orders instead of syncs?
Order-based limits are more predictable and fair. Your costs scale with your actual business volume rather than technical factors like how often inventory changes.
What if I have products that aren't matched?
Orders containing only unmatched products generally don't count toward your limit since they don't trigger stock syncs. However, if you've enabled Duplicate SKU support, orders may still count if any line item shares a SKU with a matched product, even if the specific product in the order isn't directly matched.
What happens to orders placed while I'm blocked?
Orders are still tracked (recorded in the system), but inventory won't sync until your cycle resets, or you upgrade your plan.
Do manual stock adjustments count toward my limit?
No. Only orders count toward your limit. Manual inventory changes, such as adjusting stock levels directly in Shopify or Etsy, or using Shuttle's manual sync features, do not count against your monthly order limit.
How do I avoid hitting my limit?
Exclude products you don't need synced
Upgrade your plan if you consistently approach your limit
Monitor usage regularly on the Syncer page
Need a Higher Limit?
If you're regularly hitting your limit, consider upgrading:
Growth to Scale: 5x more orders (200 β 1,000)
Scale to Unlimited: No limits at all
You can upgrade anytime from your Account page, and the change takes effect immediately.
