When you need to set stock for many SKUs at once, the Bulk Stock Updater saves you from editing them one by one. You import a CSV file of SKUs and quantities, and Shuttle updates the matching variations on Etsy, Shopify or both.
Open the Bulk Stock Updater
The Bulk Stock Updater is opened from Shuttle's Inventory page in Shopify admin.
In Shopify admin, open Shuttle and choose Inventory.
In the Quick Stock Updates section, click Bulk CSV updater.
The Bulk Stock Updater page opens with an example of the file format.
Prepare the CSV file for the Bulk Stock Updater
The Bulk Stock Updater reads a CSV file with three columns and no header row:
Column 1: the SKU of the variation
Column 2: the Etsy quantity, from 0 to 999
Column 3: the Shopify quantity, 0 or more
Each line holds one SKU. For example, the line SKU-001,50,75 sets 50 on Etsy and 75 on Shopify.
To leave one store's stock as it is, leave that quantity empty but keep the commas. For example, SKU-002,,40 updates Shopify only.
Limits for the Bulk Stock Updater CSV file
The Bulk Stock Updater checks the file before anything is updated:
Each file can hold up to 100 SKUs. Shuttle reads only the first 100 rows, so split a longer list into several files.
The file can be up to 500KB.
An Etsy quantity above 999 or below 0 is ignored, and so is a negative Shopify quantity.
Each SKU should appear only once. When the same SKU is on more than one row, those rows are marked Duplicate and skipped.
A row with an empty SKU, or a SKU that contains < or >, is left out when the file is imported, so it does not appear on the page.
Import and save a bulk update job
Each file you import becomes a job, which you check and save before anything changes in your stores.
On the Bulk Stock Updater page, click Import CSV and choose your file.
Check the rows. Each SKU is shown with its Etsy Qty and Shopify Qty, and you can edit a quantity or remove a row.
Click Save Job. To start over instead, click Discard.
Once a job is saved, any change you make to its rows is saved automatically. To set the job aside and import another file, click New Job. To remove the job, click Delete Job, then Sure? to confirm.
Run the bulk update
A saved job only changes your stock once you run it.
Click Run Bulk Update.
Shuttle shows how many SKUs it will update, and how many duplicate or invalid SKUs it will skip. Click Run bulk update to confirm.
Shuttle works through the SKUs in the background, so you can close the tab. Shuttle emails you once the bulk update is complete.
While the job runs, the page counts the SKUs that are done, have a warning, failed or are remaining. Each row shows the result for Etsy and for Shopify. When the job has finished, click Start New Job to import another file.
What the Bulk Stock Updater changes for each SKU
The Bulk Stock Updater updates the variations that carry each SKU, up to a limit per store:
On Etsy, up to 10 listings with that SKU.
On Shopify, up to 15 variants with that SKU whose stock differs from the new quantity.
Shopify quantities are set at the inventory location selected in Shuttle's settings.
When you give a sold-out or deactivated Etsy listing a quantity above zero, Shuttle makes it active again. Draft listings stay as drafts.
Find, reopen or delete past bulk update jobs
Saved jobs are listed under Recent jobs at the top of the Bulk Stock Updater page. Click Recent jobs to show the list. Each job shows how long ago it was created, how many SKUs it holds and its status.
Click a job to open it again and see its results. To remove a job from the list, click Delete, then Sure? to confirm.
