Incomplete About Section in Etsy Listing

Etsy refused Shuttle's update because one of the listing's About questions has no answer.

Why it happens

Etsy needs three answers on every listing: "Who made it?", "What is it?" and "When was it made?". If any one of them is blank, Etsy rejects every change Shuttle tries to make to that listing.

This usually happens with older listings, or with listings made outside Shuttle. When Shuttle creates a new Etsy listing, it fills in all three answers from your settings.

To check, open the listing in Etsy and look for one of those three questions with no answer.

How to fix it

You can fill in the answers on Etsy or from Shuttle. Either way works.

To fix it on Etsy:

  1. Open the listing in Etsy.

  2. Answer "Who made it?", "What is it?" and "When was it made?".

  3. Save the listing.

  4. In Shuttle, go to Products and open the Shopify → Etsy tab.

  5. Find the product, click Update in Etsy, and run the update again.

To fix it from Shuttle:

  1. Go to Settings > Products > Shopify → Etsy and find About Listing.

  2. Check the answers under Who made it?, What is it? and When was it made?, then save.

  3. Go to Products, open the Shopify → Etsy tab, and click Update in Etsy on the product.

  4. In the Update product window, tick When made, then click Update Etsy product.

Shuttle then sends all three answers. If the listing already has an answer for "Who made it?" or "What is it?", Shuttle keeps it and only fills in the blanks from your settings. "When was it made?" is always replaced with your setting.
