Etsy can keep one stock count for a whole listing, or one count for each value of an option (for example, one count per size). Shopify always keeps a count for each variation. When Shuttle syncs stock from Shopify to Etsy, two settings tell it how to handle these listings.
Both settings are in Shuttle under Settings > Stock Syncer > Shopify → Etsy, in the When Etsy manages stock on the product or option section. They only show once Enable syncing from Shopify to Etsy is checked on the same page. Stock Syncer settings are included in the Growth, Scale and Max plans.
1. When Quantity Is Managed on Etsy at the Product Level
On Etsy, some listings keep one stock count for the whole product (the parent) instead of one for each variation.
In these cases, Shuttle can set the Etsy product's quantity from the lowest stock among the Shopify variations.
How it Works:
Shuttle checks the Shopify variations tied to the Etsy product.
It finds the lowest available stock among them.
It sets the Etsy product's parent quantity to that number.
Example:
If your Shopify product variations have 10, 5, and 3 units in stock, Shuttle sets the Etsy product's overall stock to 3.
Should You Enable This?
Enable this setting if you have Etsy products that keep stock at the product (parent) level.
Disable it if you only manage stock at the variation level on Etsy.
If this setting is off, Shuttle leaves the stock of these Etsy listings as it is and shows a warning. See Etsy Stock Managed at Product Level.
How to Enable:
In Shuttle, go to Settings > Stock Syncer > Shopify → Etsy.
Check Update the Etsy product quantity from Shopify variations.
Click Save.
2. When Quantity Is Managed on Etsy at the Option Level
Etsy also lets you keep stock for one option (like size or color) instead of for each variation.
In these cases, Shuttle can update every Etsy variation that shares the same option value.
How it Works:
Shuttle looks at the stock of the Shopify variations that share an option value, such as Size "Small".
It applies the lowest of those quantities to all Etsy variations with that option value.
Example:
You sell a T-shirt in 3 sizes and 5 colors, and Etsy keeps stock by size:
A Shopify sale for Size "Small" and Color "Blue" happens.
Shuttle updates the quantity for all Etsy variations with Size "Small", whatever their color.
Should You Enable This?
Enable this setting if your Etsy listings keep stock by option (such as size or color).
Disable it if your Etsy listings keep stock only at the product or variation level.
If this setting is off, Shuttle leaves the stock of these Etsy listings as it is and shows a warning. See Etsy Stock Managed at Property Level.
How to Enable:
In Shuttle, go to Settings > Stock Syncer > Shopify → Etsy.
Check Update Etsy variations based on the option that manages stock.
Click Save.
Keeping Shopify Quantities the Same
When either setting is on, another setting appears: Mirror quantity updates to Shopify. With it checked, after Shuttle updates Etsy it also sets the matching Shopify variations to the same quantity. Leave it unchecked if your Shopify variations need to keep different quantities.
