Introduction to Real-Time Stock Syncing with Shuttle

When you sell on both Etsy and Shopify, Shuttle's Stock Syncer keeps stock levels in step between your Etsy shop and your Shopify store, so you avoid overselling and don't have to update stock by hand. When stock changes on one side, for example after a sale on Shopify, Shuttle updates the matched product on the other side automatically.

How does the Stock Syncer work?

The Stock Syncer only works on products that are matched between Etsy and Shopify, so a product needs a match before its stock can sync.

The Stock Syncer can sync in two directions, and you turn each one on separately:

  • Etsy to Shopify: stock changes on Etsy are copied to Shopify.

  • Shopify to Etsy: stock changes on Shopify are copied to Etsy.

You can turn on one direction or both, depending on how you manage your stock.

If a product is not matched yet, see Matching Products & Variations.

What can the Stock Syncer do?

Sync stock quantities

The Stock Syncer syncs stock quantities between matched products and variations.

Sync SKU changes

The Stock Syncer can also sync SKU changes between platforms once you turn this on in the settings.

Sync product state

The Stock Syncer can keep a product's state the same on both sides. For example, when an Etsy listing is deactivated, Shuttle can set the matched Shopify product to draft, and it works the other way round too.

Handle sold-out Etsy products

The Stock Syncer lets you choose what happens to the Shopify product when a product sells out on Etsy.

Handle negative stock

The Stock Syncer lets you choose how negative stock is handled.

Leave products out of stock syncing

You can leave certain products out of the Stock Syncer, either by tag or by excluding digital products.

Check the sync history

The Stock Syncer keeps a history of every sync, so you can see what was updated. If a sync fails, the history shows the reason, often with a link to a help article that explains it.

Set up the Stock Syncer

  1. In Shuttle, open Stock Syncer.

  2. Turn on Etsy to Shopify, Shopify to Etsy, or both.

  3. Click Settings to choose how syncing handles SKUs, product states, sold-out products and negative stock.

  4. Go back to Stock Syncer to check your sync history and any errors.

Which plan includes the Stock Syncer?

The Stock Syncer comes with the Growth, Scale and Max plans. It is not included in the Essential plan.

To use the Stock Syncer, you need the Growth plan or higher.

How many orders does the Stock Syncer cover each month?

Each plan that includes the Stock Syncer covers a set number of orders per calendar month:

  • Growth: 200 orders a month

  • Scale: 1,000 orders a month

  • Max: unlimited orders

Only paid orders that include at least one matched product that is not excluded count toward the Stock Syncer limit. Your count resets on the 1st of each month, and you can see your usage on the Stock Syncer page.

For what counts and what happens when you reach your limit, see Understanding Stock Syncer Limits.

Try the Stock Syncer for free

You can start a free 14-day Stock Syncer trial on the Stock Syncer page if you have not used the Stock Syncer trial before and have never had a plan with syncing.
