What is Rule Timing?

Stock rules warn you when stock runs low. Each rule's timing setting decides when Shuttle emails you about the alerts that rule raises. Choose Real-time to hear about low stock straight away, or Fixed-time to get alerts together once a day.

When does a Real-time rule email you?

A stock rule set to Real-time emails you as soon as an order brings stock down to the rule's threshold. Choose Real-time when you want to react to low stock straight away.

When does a Fixed-time rule email you?

A stock rule set to Fixed-time collects its alerts and sends them once a day, at the time you choose. Choose Fixed-time when you prefer to review stock alerts in one go.

How fixed-time alerts reach you depends on the Send me a daily summary of stock alerts setting:

  • With the daily summary on, which is the default, fixed-time alerts don't get their own email. They go into your daily summary instead, which covers every alert from the past day and comes with a CSV file. Shuttle skips the summary on days with no alerts.

  • With the daily summary off, each fixed-time rule sends its own email at your chosen time.

Choose when fixed-time alerts arrive

You set the delivery time for fixed-time alerts and the daily summary in your notification settings.

  1. In Shuttle, go to Settings > Alerts & Notifications.

  2. Under Fixed time delivery, choose your Time zone and Preferred time.

  3. Click Save.

Make sure you have selected and saved a time zone. If no time zone is saved, Shuttle doesn't send fixed-time alerts or daily summaries.

Change a stock rule's timing

You can switch any stock rule between real-time and fixed-time alerts at any time.

  1. In Shuttle, go to Inventory > Stock Rules.

  2. Open the rule you want to change.

  3. Under Timing, choose Real-time, alert immediately or Fixed-time, batch into the daily summary.

  4. Click Save.

When you add a quick rule, the same choice appears as Real-time or Scheduled.
