What Should I Do With Reviews for Custom Products?

Custom products are items you sell only on Etsy, so they have no matching product in your Shopify store. Because of that, Shuttle cannot link their reviews to a Shopify product by itself, and on the Reviews page these reviews show as Not assigned.

Whether Shuttle exports these reviews depends on your reviews app. If your app cannot take them, Shuttle leaves them out of your review exports until you assign them to a product.

You can handle reviews for custom products in two ways: assign them to a Shopify product, or export them as shop reviews.

Assign reviews for custom products to a Shopify product

Assigning a review to a Shopify product links it to that product, so Shuttle includes it in your exports.

  1. In Shuttle, open Reviews.

  2. Set the Match filter to Not assigned to see the reviews that have no product.

  3. Click Assign next to a review.

  4. Search for the Shopify product you want to use, then select it.

  5. To use this product for every review of the same Etsy product, tick Yes, assign to all.

  6. Click Assign to reviews.

Once assigned, the review shows as Assigned · Manual and is included in your next export.

Export reviews for custom products as shop reviews

Shop reviews are about your shop as a whole, not a single product, so your reviews app can show them even though no Shopify product is linked. How you set this up depends on which reviews app you use.

If you use Reviewsion

Reviewsion needs no extra setup, because Shuttle already sends Reviewsion your reviews that have no Shopify product. Keep Reviewsion selected in Review settings.

If you use another reviews app

  1. In Shuttle, open Reviews, then click Review settings.

  2. Under Which product reviews app do you use?, check that Other reviews app is selected and that your app is chosen under Reviews app.

  3. If you use Judge.me, Klaviyo or Fera, or the option that gives you all reviews in a CSV, tick Include shop reviews in transfers and exports.

  4. If you use Loox, follow the Loox guide linked in the Loox shop reviews setting to set up an unavailable product. Then enter that product's handle in Inactive product handle.

  5. Click Save.

For any other app under Other reviews app, Shuttle does not export shop reviews. Assign reviews for custom products to a Shopify product instead.
