Automatic Price Adjustments for Product Transfers and Updates

Learn how Shuttle adjusts product prices automatically when syncing between platforms.

Updated this week

Shuttle allows you to automatically adjust product prices when transferring or updating products between Etsy and Shopify. This feature helps you maintain consistent pricing strategies across your sales channels and simplifies price management, saving you valuable time.

Why Use Automatic Price Adjustments?

When selling on multiple platforms, you might want to set different price points to reflect fees, customer segments, market conditions, or promotional strategies. Shuttle's automatic price adjustments streamline this process by applying your customized rules whenever products are transferred or updated.

Types of Price Adjustment Rules

Shuttle provides two main ways to adjust prices automatically:

1. Default Price Adjustment Rule

This rule applies uniformly to all transferred or updated products unless a more specific rule is defined.

You can:

  • Multiply prices (e.g., to increase by a percentage).

  • Add a fixed amount to each price (e.g., to cover platform-specific fees).

  • Subtract a fixed amount (e.g., for promotional pricing).

Example:

If you want all your prices on Shopify to be 10% higher than on Etsy, set the rule to "Multiply Etsy Price by 1.10".

2. Dynamic Price Adjustment Rules

These rules offer fine-grained control based on product-specific criteria such as tags, sections, categories, titles, or keywords. Dynamic rules override the default rule for applicable products.

You can set rules based on:

  • Product Tags (e.g., add $5 for all products tagged "handmade").

  • Sections or Categories (e.g., multiply by 1.2 for "Jewelry" section products).

  • Keywords in product titles (e.g., subtract $3 if the title includes "Clearance").

You can create multiple dynamic rules to handle different pricing scenarios effectively.

Example:

If you sell jewelry and clothing but want jewelry prices 20% higher and clothing prices only $2 higher, you could set:

  • By Section (Jewelry): Multiply price by 1.20

  • By Section (Clothing): Add $2 to Etsy price

Setting a Custom "Compare at Price"

Shuttle also enables you to set a "Compare at Price" during product transfers and updates from Etsy to Shopify. This can help you manage promotions by showing discounted prices.

You have several options:

  • Set it as a fixed increase or multiplier of the original price.

  • Leave it unchanged.

  • Remove it altogether by setting it to empty.

Example:

If your original price is $20, and you want to display it as discounted from $25, you can set the "Compare at Price" to be Etsy price multiplied by 1.25.

How to Configure Automatic Price Adjustments

  1. Navigate to your Shuttle dashboard.

  2. Go to Products Settings (either Etsy to Shopify or Shopify to Etsy, depending on your needs).

  3. Locate the Product Price adjustment section.

  4. Configure your desired Default Price Adjustment Rule.

  5. Add any necessary Dynamic Price Adjustment Rules.

  6. Optionally, set a custom Compare at Price.

  7. Save your settings.

Once configured, Shuttle applies these rules automatically whenever you transfer or update products.
