If you sell in more than one language, Shuttle can copy the translations of your product titles and descriptions between Etsy and Shopify. A transferred product then arrives on the other platform with its translations already in place, for the languages you choose.
How does translation syncing work?
Shuttle adds translations when it transfers a product, in the same direction as the transfer:
From Etsy to Shopify, Shuttle adds the Etsy listing's translations to the new Shopify product for each language you selected.
From Shopify to Etsy, Shuttle adds the Shopify product's translations to the Etsy listing for each language you selected.
Translation syncing covers only the product title and description. Shuttle never overwrites a translation that already exists, so it only adds the ones that are missing.
Set up translation syncing
In Shuttle, open Settings.
Under Products, choose Etsy → Shopify to bring Etsy translations into Shopify, or Shopify → Etsy to send Shopify translations to Etsy.
Find the Translations section. On the Shopify → Etsy page, this section is called Product Translations.
Tick the languages you want. The list only shows languages that are active in both your Etsy shop and your Shopify store, and it leaves out your default language.
Click Save.
If no languages appear in the list, Shuttle could not find a language that is active in both your Etsy shop and your Shopify store.
Add translations to products you already transferred
Shuttle adds translations automatically when it transfers a product. For products that are already on both Etsy and Shopify, run an update and select Translations as one of the fields to update.
The update adds only the translations that are missing and leaves the existing ones as they are.
Why wasn't a translation added?
Shuttle skips a language for a product in these cases:
The product already has a translation in that language on the other platform. Shuttle keeps that translation as it is.
From Etsy to Shopify, the Etsy listing has no translation in that language.
From Shopify to Etsy, the Shopify product is missing the translated title or the translated description in that language. Shuttle needs both before it adds the language.
From Shopify to Etsy, the language is the listing's own language on Etsy.
