Updating stock with Quick Stock Updates

Quick Stock Updates lets you change the stock of one product straight from Shuttle. You search for it on the Inventory page, type the new quantity, and Shuttle sends it to Etsy, Shopify or both.

Find a product in Quick Stock Updates

Quick Stock Updates is on the Inventory page, below the inventory tools.

  1. Open Inventory.

  2. In Quick Stock Updates, type at least three characters in the search box.

  3. Click Search, or press Enter.

You can search by:

  • part of a SKU

  • part of a product title

  • a full Etsy or Shopify product ID or variant ID

  • the link to an Etsy listing

Quick Stock Updates shows up to 50 variations. It only shows products that are active on Etsy or Shopify.

If nothing matches, you see No variations found. Try a different search, or click Clear search to start again.

Read the Quick Stock Updates results

Each row in Quick Stock Updates is one variation. It shows the product title, the Etsy and Shopify SKUs, and the current stock in an Etsy column and a Shopify column.

Quick Stock Updates shows the product title on every row, not the variation name. All variations of one product look the same in the title, so use the SKUs to tell them apart.

A dash in the Etsy or Shopify column means that store has no variation to update for this row. This usually means the product or variation is not matched. See Matching Products & Variations.

Update stock on Etsy, Shopify or both

Quick Stock Updates sends a new quantity only to the store you choose.

  1. Type the new quantity in the Etsy column, the Shopify column, or both.

  2. Choose where the change should go:

    • To update one store only, hover over or click into its quantity box and click the Update button that appears.

    • To update both stores, click Update both at the end of the row.

If the variation exists in only one store, the button at the end of the row says Update Etsy or Update Shopify instead.

Update both does not copy one number to the other store. Etsy gets the number in the Etsy column, and Shopify gets the number in the Shopify column. To make both stores match, type the same number in both boxes.

If you see a message that Shuttle couldn't update the stock, try again.

Which Shopify location does Quick Stock Updates change?

Quick Stock Updates follows your Shopify location settings. You'll find them under Settings > Products > General, in the Shopify inventory location section.

You might have Quantity source for Etsy updates set to Use combined quantity across all locations (use with caution). In that case, the Shopify column shows your total stock across all locations. The number you type becomes the new total, and Shuttle adds or removes the difference at your Default Shopify location.

Why other variations on the same Etsy listing changed too

Some Etsy listings keep one quantity for the whole listing, or one quantity for each option. On those listings, updating one variation also changes every variation that shares its quantity.

What else a quick stock update changes

A quick stock update can also change other products that are linked to the one you updated.

Duplicate SKUs

You might have Update stock levels for all duplicate SKUs turned on, under Settings > Products > General. Then a quick stock update also reaches the other variations with the same SKU, on Etsy and Shopify, whether they are matched or not.

With that setting on, typing a quantity in one row also fills it into the other rows with the same SKU in your search results.

Kits

If the variation you updated is an item in a kit, Shuttle updates that kit's stock shortly afterwards, not right away.

Custom matches

If the variation you updated has a custom match, Shuttle updates the matched variations shortly afterwards, not right away.

Update stock for many products at once

Quick Stock Updates changes one variation at a time. To change many at once, click Bulk CSV updater next to the Quick Stock Updates heading.
