Dynamic images let you add the same extra image to a group of Etsy listings, such as a branding image, a size chart, care instructions or a promotional banner. You set a rule once instead of editing each listing by hand. Shuttle then adds the image to every matching product when you transfer or update products from Shopify, with up to 5 dynamic images in total.
How do dynamic images work?
Each dynamic image is a rule with three parts:
Image URL: a direct link to the image you want to add. It must start with https://.
Filter by: how Shuttle picks the products.
Filter value: the name to match.
When a product is transferred or updated on Etsy, Shuttle checks each dynamic image rule. If the product matches, Shuttle adds the image after the product's own images.
Add a dynamic image
In Shuttle, go to Settings > Products > Shopify → Etsy.
Scroll to the Images section and find Dynamic images.
Click Add dynamic image.
Paste the link in Image URL and wait for the preview to appear.
Choose an option in Filter by and type the name in Filter value.
Repeat for more images, then click Save.
When you save, Shuttle removes any dynamic image row that has no image link, has no filter value, or has a link that doesn't start with https://.
Which image links work for dynamic images?
Dynamic images use links, not uploads, so the image needs to be hosted somewhere public. That can be your Shopify files or another image host. You then paste its link.
The link must start with https://.
A preview appears once Shuttle can load the image.
If you see "Please enter a valid URL", "URL must start with https://" or "Unable to load image from URL", check that the link is complete and opens the image itself in your browser.
How does Filter by choose products?
The Filter by setting decides what Shuttle compares with the Filter value:
Shopify collection: matches a collection the Shopify product belongs to, for example Summer Sale.
Shopify tag: matches a tag on the Shopify product, for example handmade.
Etsy section: matches the section the Etsy listing is in, for example Necklaces. Updates only.
Etsy tag: matches a tag on the Etsy listing, for example gift idea. Updates only.
The Filter value has to match the whole name, but capital letters don't matter. So typing summer sale matches a collection called Summer Sale, but typing summer does not.
The Etsy section and Etsy tag filters only work when you update a product that is already on Etsy. A new transfer has no Etsy listing for Shuttle to check yet.
When are dynamic images added to a listing?
Shuttle adds dynamic images to a listing only when all of these are true:
The product has at least one image in Shopify.
Images to include, in the Images section of the same settings page, is not set to Don't include images. With that option chosen, the Dynamic images section is hidden.
For updates, images are part of the update. If you leave Images out of an update, or block it with the Master Switch, dynamic images are not added either.
How many dynamic images can a listing have, and where do they go?
You can add up to 5 dynamic images, and they always go after the product's own images.
Shuttle sends up to 20 images per listing, and dynamic images count toward that. Because they come after the product's own images, a product with many images may leave no room for them.
The First image and Image mapping settings don't move dynamic images, and Images to include only limits the product's own images.
If a product matches several rules, Shuttle adds each matching image. If two rules use the same image link, Shuttle adds that image only once.
